Kiasutha Recreational Area

Day use is $5 per vehicle or $65 for a seasonal pass. Overnight camping ranges roughly $20-$39 per night depending on hookups (basic $20, waterfront $24, electric $25, full hookup $39).

Large grassy designated swim beach (900-person capacity) rather than a sandy shallow entry, and no lifeguard was found mentioned on any official page. The same bay hosts a boat launch and courtesy dock with motorized-boat traffic, so families should watch young kids near the water and stay clear of the launch/dock area. The grassy lawn, picnic area, and paved accessible fishing pier make it otherwise a comfortable, developed spot for families.

No significant hike is required. The swimming area is close to parking and access.

Paved parking lot at the day-use/beach area, described by the USFS and Allegheny Site pages as ample; the fee is the standard day-use vehicle fee, not a separate parking charge.

Launch is a two-lane concrete boat ramp with a 130-foot courtesy dock for loading/unloading only (no overnight tie-up); it operates May 1-October 31 and is accessible 24 hours during that season.

The swimming beach and picnic area operate seasonally from approximately May 24 through September 1 (dates vary slightly by year, e.g. May 22-September 8 for the 2026 camping season); the boat launch runs May 1 through October 31.

Pets are not allowed on the beach or in the water and must be leashed elsewhere; firearms and fireworks are prohibited; campfires are permitted only in provided fire rings and must be fully extinguished; firewood from outside the area is not permitted; camping checkout is noon.

Kiasutha Recreational Area is on Allegheny Reservoir, a natural reservoir verified in USGS hydrography data.
