Aurora Reservoir Swim Beach

Day pass required: $15/vehicle in summer season (Memorial Day-Labor Day), $10/vehicle non-summer. Annual passes: $85 non-resident, $75 Aurora resident, $75 non-resident 62+, $65 resident 62+. Water Access Pass (for watercraft) $20; Additional Vehicle Pass $50 (max one per household).

Official fenced swim beach with lifeguards, but only on duty Wed-Sun 10am-6pm (Memorial Day weekend through early August, plus Labor Day weekend); unguarded 'swim at your own risk' the rest of the season through Sept 30. Playground next to the beach was closed for repairs at time of research. No source found on entry slope/depth, so cannot confirm shallow wading conditions.

No significant hike is required. The swimming area is close to parking and access.

Upper and Lower parking lots; entry station normally checks passes at the gate, though at time of research the entry station was under repair and passes were being sold in the Lower Lot where boat inspections also take place. City advises arriving by 10 a.m. to avoid entry-line delays or capacity closures.

Reservoir is also popular for windsurfing/kiteboarding per the city's own site. At time of research the city noted drought-related low water levels were making launching difficult for some boats.

Summer season (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day); park hours in July are 5 a.m.-9:30 p.m.

Swim area is monitored and lifeguarded Wed-Sun 10am-6pm during summer; it is closed to swimming when bacteria levels are elevated (routine for untreated natural water) until retesting shows normal levels. Only non-motorized watercraft or electric-motor boats are allowed elsewhere on the reservoir (no gas motors); boating season runs mid/late March through November 30. Visitors are advised to arrive by 10 a.m. to avoid entry delays from capacity limits.
