Camper reviews describe the day-use beach as family-suited with 'easy access to the lake' and swimming/fishing right off the sand, but SCE's own safety notices warn about submerged objects sitting closer to the surface than expected and dangerous currents/sudden discharges near the dam and powerhouse. No lifeguard is mentioned in any source found, so supervise kids directly rather than relying on staff.

Visitors drive into the Camp Edison campground/day-use entrance (42696 Tollhouse Rd, Shaver Lake, CA) and park within the developed campground lot; SCE states there is no separate walk-in public access point. Day-use parties are limited to 2 vehicles and must depart by 9 PM. From most parking/campsite areas it's a short walk (not a hike) down to the beach.

Camp Edison is a developed campground with flush restrooms and hot-water showers throughout the grounds (one reviewer on The Dyrt noted showers run about $5 for 40 minutes; another cited a coin-op rate of $0.25/2 min). No dedicated vault toilet was described specifically at the beach, but restrooms are within the same developed campground as the day-use beach.

Multiple named camper reviews on The Dyrt describe the water as 'so clear' and 'beautiful.' As a working hydroelectric reservoir, however, water levels (and by extension shoreline/beach conditions) can drop noticeably during dry periods, per the same reviews and the prior dossier's sourcing.

Hours

Day-use visitors must leave the campground by 9 PM (day-use area then reserved for arriving campers until 7 AM check-in). Shaver Lake Marina, on the same site, operates daily 7 AM-6 PM, seasonally April 15-October 15 (dates can shift with weather/lake levels).
