Sand Point Beach

Designated roped-off swim zone directly off a sandy, gradually-sloping beach (no drop-offs described); ADA-accessible paved paths lead to the water. City rules require parents/guardians to accompany children in the water and prohibit swimming outside the ropes, so supervision is expected but the site itself is set up for families (playground, picnic shelters on-site). No lifeguard on duty has been confirmed in any source found, so treat it as unguarded despite the beginner-friendly layout.

No significant hike is required. The swimming area is close to parking and access.

First-come, first-served on-site lot per prior official-source research. Trailers are not allowed in the beach lot and must use the adjacent DNR boat-launch lot or street parking instead.

One aggregator source (familydestinationsguide.com) states the park itself "offers kayak and paddleboard rentals," but this could not be verified against the official city parks page (blocked from re-fetching in this pass) or any other independent source, and may be confusing the on-site personal-watercraft storage racks with an actual rental program. Treated as unverified rather than fact.

Beach season typically runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting; park hours are daily 5:00 AM-10:00 PM year-round.

Designated swim area is roped off; swimming outside the roped zone, dunking, pulling on the ropes, and launching inflatables are prohibited. Parents/guardians must accompany children in the water.

Sand Point Beach is on Lower Prior Lake, a natural lake verified in USGS hydrography data.
