Forge Beach

Westford residents swim free with proof of residency. Nonresidents pay $15 per person per day (covers Forge Beach playground and Edwards Beach's Ronan McElligott playground too); children 3 and under and adults 65+ are free. A nonresident season pass is $100 per family of five.

Town beach with a playground on-site, but swimming is unsupervised (no lifeguards), so kids should be watched closely; Westford requires Coast Guard-approved PFDs for anyone in the water, which itself implies caution is expected. No official info on water depth or bottom type at the swim area.

No significant hike is required. The swimming area is close to parking and access.

Official pages describe a paved town access road to the beach running between Stony Brook and the railroad tracks off Rt. 225 (Pleasant St.), but no source explicitly describes a parking lot, its size, or a parking fee. Day-use fees found are per-person (resident free, nonresident $15/person), not per-vehicle, so no separate parking cost could be confirmed.

Official staffed/fee beach season runs June 29 through August 21 (summer), 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. daily; the beach grounds are otherwise accessible to the public dawn-to-dusk year-round.

No lifeguards on duty; only Coast Guard-approved personal flotation devices in serviceable condition are permitted; dogs and horses are not allowed on the premises; there is no public boat launch at Westford beaches; during the off-season an off-season carry-in/carry-out trash policy applies. Beach and pond are periodically closed for aquatic-vegetation chemical treatment (swimming and boating prohibited that day).
